Announcements

CRISTOSAL – Kathy Veit from all Saints’ Palo Alto will present information on the ministry of Cristosal, a human rights advocacy group on Sunday, April 25 at the SLO Deanery meeting.  Cristosal was born in 2000 as a collaboration between Episcopal clergy in the United States and El Salvador and  now operates throughout the Northern Triangle of Central America—El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. —which is one of the most violent regions of the world. An unprecedented humanitarian crisis is unfolding in the region, as thousands of families are forcibly displaced by violence committed by gangs, criminal organizations, and government forces.   Cristosal supports victims of violence by providing protection when it is needed most, repairing the effects of human rights violations through strategic court cases, and working with municipalities to build safer, more democratic communities. For more information, visit cristosal.org

The meeting begins at 2pm, and Kathy will speak at 2:15 in the deanery zoom room. All are welcome.

PARISH PICNIC –  We will have a brown-bag style picnic on May 2 at 2:00pm at the Los Osos Middle School field, weather permitting.  Bring your own chair, mask, and picnic.  We’ll still need to keep our social-distancing and maintain safety protocols, but will be able to enjoy each other’s company and be together socially.  Join us!

HOLLISTER INSTITUTE DISCUSSION Pease consider joining the ongoing conversation about spirituality based on the Irish poet, John O’Donohue’s, book Beauty: the Invisible Embrace. It’s ok to come and participate even if you haven’t read the book

In this book, John O’Donohue turns his attention to the subject of beauty―the divine beauty that calls the imagination and awakens all that is noble in the human heart―focusing on the classical, medieval and Celtic traditions, on art, music, literature, nature and language. Using his work as our jumping off point we will explore the place of Beauty and its inspiration in our own lives.

LOS OSOS COMMUNITY DINNER –  May 6

It’s our turn to host the Los Osos Community Dinner. Food donations are needed from St. Benedict’s members. Please contact Maureen Titus at 805-441-7262 to let us know what you will bring.

Menu:    Enchilada Casserole (Meat and Vegetarian), Spanish rice & black beans. We need St. Benedict’s members to contribute our share of the dinner: 5 people to bring enough Spanish rice for 20 people: 5 people to bring enough black beans for 20 people. It’s at South Bay Community Center, 2180 Palisades Ave., Los Osos Thursday, May 6, 2021 – deliver cooked food by 4PM

Thank you for your willingness to provide food for our dinner plan. The community dinner has become a meal so many people look forward to for their dinner on Thursday evenings.     Peace, Love and Hugs to each one of you!!! – Maureen

SUNDAY EUCHARIST  – We now have Eucharist (bread only) outdoors every Sunday at 10:30, unless it’s too wet or windy.  It will also be live-streamed on Facebook for those who stay at home.  If weather cancels, you will be told by email Saturday evening.

If receiving the Body of Christ is important to your worship, yet you still do not feel comfortable coming to church even with safety protocols in place, we can arrange for Communion to be brought to you.  One of our Eucharistic Visitors or member of clergy (masked and gloved) will bring bread which was blessed at the altar on Sunday and administer it to you with a short prayer (10 minutes or so) outside your home or at the door.  Contact Caro+ to set up an appointment

PERSONAL PRAYER A member of the Healing Prayer Ministry team is available each week to pray with you for special concerns.  If you’d like this prayer support this week, contact Louisa Beeler at (805) 543-2898. If no answer, please leave a message and your call will be returned.
