Celebrate Cristosal #20!

Thursday, October 8, 5 pm

Cristosal, a Central American human rights organization born in the Episcopal Church, has been a grantee of the Diocese of El Camino Real’s Partnership Commission for several years. In gratitude, Cristosal extends an invitation to all members of the diocese to attend our 20th Anniversary (Virtual) Gala. Please join us for an evening of arts, culture, and serious human rights talk. Featured guests include Austin-based musician/activist Gina Chavez, poets Carolyn Forché and Javier Zamora, and the National Choir of Guatemala. The event is free to attend (please RSVP here). We hope you can join us!

Season of Creation

Once every year, during the four Sundays of September that precede St Francis of Assisi Day (4 October), we join with churches around the world in celebrating a Season of Creation. This is an opportunity to bring the celebration of Earth fully into the orbit of Christian worship as a natural and integral part of the church year. During the Season of Creation, we rejoice in the good gift of creation and reflect on how we care for it.

St. Benedict’s will be celebrating the Season of Creation with special themed liturgies and sermons at the

10:30 AM service:

September 27 – The Kinship and Unity of All Creation in Christ

Then in October, we will honor St. Francis of Assisi:

October 5 – St. Francis Day Observed

Take the Faith Climate Justice Voter Pledge

When people of faith vote our values, elected officials take note. We can help make change by electing leaders who are committed to ending structures of oppression, ending environmental injustices, and tackling climate change.

While it’s not the place for St. Ben’s to say for whom you should vote, we can let people know the values for which we are voting. It’s easy to do online. Members of St. Ben’s Earthcare Committee have signed the Faith Climate Justice Voter Pledge and invite you to join us. See https://www.faithclimatejusticevoter.org/pledge-to-be-a-faith-climate-justice-voter/.  The Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign is a nonpartisan Interfaith Power & Light led campaign and includes several faith and climate partners.

Creation Care Webinars from our Diocese

Each of us can make a difference by being good stewards of creation through easy-to-do actions. St. Benedict’s Earthcare Committee recommends your participation in the upcoming Zoom meetings offered by St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church (Mountain View) Creation Care Task Force. We hope you will join us in taking advantage of the invitation to join these free sessions at 7:00-8:30 p.m. on the designated dates:
