The observance of All Souls’ Day is an extension of the Feast of All Saints.
From very early times, the word “saint” was most associated with people of heroic sanctity, whose deeds were recalled with gratitude by later generations.
By the tenth century, it became customary to set aside another day on which the Church remembered that vast body of the faithful who, though no less important or worthy, are unknown in the wider fellowship of the Church.
All Souls’ is a day set aside for the remembrance of family members, friends, and loved ones.
In keeping with this practice, all those we love who have died, especially those who have died over this past year, may be remembered by name during this service. You are invited to submit any names you would like to be read aloud during the liturgy here: CLICK HERE
