Children & Youth

This new web page about our programs for children and youth is under construction.

Children

On the second Sunday of each month, the 10:30 a.m. worship service focusses on children and "the child in all of us". As we currently do it, the "service of the word", which ordinarily consists of the formal reading of Bible passages and a sermon, is replaced by Montessori-style instruction of the young children, with the child-in-the-rest-of-us looking on. Then, during the second half of the service, the celebration of the Eucharist, the children join the priest-celebrant at the altar.

Youth

Like many Episcopal parishes, we have too few youth to offer effective programs for this age group on our own. So, we join with other parishes of the San Luis Obispo Deanery in sponsoring youth groups for middle school and high school youth, known as "Rite 13" and "J2A". These groups meet most of the day one Sunday a month at one of the deanery's parishes, including participation in that parish's Sunday morning worship. For more information, see the Deanery's youth web site (which badly needs to be expanded and updated--the writer can say that since he is the one who needs to improve it).

While we are getting better text written, you might enjoy looking at some of the pictures we have.
